went over to the shah alam aquarium centre cum fish shop yesterday and saw some arapaimas. in case u guys dont know wat those are - its a big ass fish that (if i'm not mistaken) comes from the flooded jungles of the amazon. this babies' staple diets are everything else that lives in the jungle, even the monkeys(!!). actually saw a documentary on this, where arapaimas would jump out of the water to devour unsuspecting monkeys hanging out on low vines on the trees above. i'm sure ur thinking "yah, like thats gonna happen", arapaimas grow up to 15 feet in length and can weigh over 200 pounds, so well i'd say its quite possible. oh dear..
well, anyway the ones i saw yesterday were only about 4 feet or so. and they look pretty well fed and since there're high fences by the sides on the pond, i doubt its gonna come out and try to eat someone anytime soon.

fee-fi-fo-fum, i see food lurking above trying to take my pic
besides that, there was a freaky siamese twin arowana, with one on top the other upside down at the bottom (joined at the belly). its a pretty amazing sight - wanted to take a pic but afraid the store owner who's just sitting a few feet away might not like it. so too bad, u guys will just have to use ur imagination.
