u know how some ppl are just plain unlucky when it comes to certain things? well, i think.. wait, lemme rephrase that - i KNOW that i'm just damn unlucky when it comes to handphones. *sigh* u'll know what i mean shortly..

well, it all started out when i decided to get myself a nokia 3650 (the one with the round, pizza-shaped keypad). that damned phone was so problematic i had to send it back to the shop a couple of times before it worked properly for about a month when it just stopped receiving network signals. so i got fed up and traded it in for a 6600 about a month ago. finally a phone which works like a dream. then last week i decided to get my mobile no changed (long story) and less than a week of using the new no later, the sim card just decided to stop working (wtf?) and i actually have to go to the maxis center in person to get it rectified. sighh.. so i wont be able to use that no til this saturday when i'm actually free.

then the bomb happened.. today i lost my 1 month old 6600. i cant really tell exactly how it happened, but my guess would be it dropped outta my pocket when i was waiting for my table during lunch in the restaurant's waiting area (the couch was one of those that u HAD to slouch in). i only realised my phone wasn't with me as i was leaving the restaurant (this was like 2 hrs later), and initially thought i'd left it in the car. only when it wasn't in the car when i knew it had to be missing.. tried called it and confirmed my suspicion. anyway, i did try asking around and obviously no one saw it.

anyway, i guess whatever happened had to happen right? karma, neh? - its fate. so i guess i accept it as no one's fault but my own. after all, u can't really blame the person who found it for not returning it right? i mean, that almost never happens.. ask urself, if u were to find a rm1600 phone would u return it? i thought not.

anyway, no use crying over spilt milk so i guess its all the more reason for me to get the nokia 6630 that's coming out at the end of the year. =)

2 words for Puteri Gunung Ledang: i'm impressed. what i thought was really good about this show was the dialogue. i mean anyone who can write 3 hrs worth of script which is more of a poem then anything deserves to be commended. i mean, u know how ppl during that era spoke right? amazing. surprisingly the acting was pretty good too and everything seemed pretty okay. however, of cos all is not perfect (haha). the fight scenes was quite funny .. 1st they were flying around wong fei hung style, but the killer was the fight scene between Hang Tuah and Raja Majapahit - heck, they could manipulate the weather i tell you! It was funny that Raja Majapahit hit the ground then everything exploded and caught fire then guess what Hang Tuah did.. he made it rain to douse the fires.. hahaa! thats not all, halfway thru the fight, they were transported to another dimension, and sometime in the midst of all that, Hang Tuah made a full eclipse of the sun! wooooo.. wong fei who? =P okay, despite all my sarcasm/criticism i still stand by my initial feeling .. which is i'm impressed.. VERY impressed.

ooo, one more thing which got me all impressed was the actual premier itself. i mean, this one they meant business. they went all out: classy cocktail party at the entrance of dewan philharmonic, lotsa celebs and "orang kenamaan" (those that i could actually recognize, unlike the "gala" on mon.. hehe). but someone forgot to mention to me that this was going to be a black tie event, and me being the casual dude walked in with khaki slacks. sigh.. luckily i got a tie in the car so all was not lost. nevertheless, din feel comfy amongst tuxedo-ed ppl so decided to skip the cocktail thing (and my opportunity to rub shoulders with the who's who of kl.. sighh). come to think of it its not such a big deal wat right? celebs only wat! (sour grapes.. hehe).

had dinner today in this place called Bisik, which is across the road from citibank in ampang. its a pretty nice place, with good food at a relatively affordable price (rm13 for a kari kapitan rice). anyway, the only prob is that its more of a chillout place (ie drinking hole) n so it was quite dark, making it really difficult to see what i was eating.. other than that it was pretty good.

oh yah, will be attending another movie premier tomorrow night - Puteri Gunung Ledang (stop laughing). its probably gonna be disappointing and all, but i'm just gonna take it as an educational program cos i pratically have no friggin idea what this story is about. (stop scoffing, bet u dont either.. *bleyk*) will let u guys know about it tomorow..

just got back from a gala premier of "Visits: Hungry Ghost Anthology" at midvalley.. okay, right about now i'm sure all of u out there are going like "hungry what..?!" hehe, dont worry.. u're not THAT outdated - its a malaysian effort so i'm not too surprised if no one, *ahem* i mean, not many ppl's heard of it =). and after watching it, i'd hope for the sake of the producers and the cast that no one will ever hear of it .. hehe.

okay la, i'm just being mean. to give them credit, i think it was actually a pretty good effort. lemme elaborate abit on the film: its chinese horror film (hence the title, appropriately named after hungry ghost festival which begins this week apparently) which is divided into 4 "mini-films", each one directed by different ermm.. directors and filmed in a different styles.

ermm anyway the gist of it: the 1st one was pretty normal .. but experimented with lighting and classic shock factor found it virtually every horror movie. it was about a ghost who came back from the dead to avenge her death *yawn*

the 2nd one was one of those new age concept/themed shows. u know those with stoned-faced actors/actresses and have a 3 to 5 second pause in between each dialogue? if u think a story of a person talking to a bar of soap for 2 hours is art then u'd probably enjoy this one. haha. anyway, it was about a ghost who came back from the dead to visit her childhood friend.

the 3rd one was ghost story about a person making a ghost story.. hahaha. what happened was that this guy wanted to film up a spirit summoning seance (is that spelt right?) thing.. it went horribly wrong when the ppl involved didn't really take the whole thing seriously and asked the "spirit" to make the other person like her .. so thats exactly what the spirit did (note: the spirit's dead *duh*).

the last one was the most painful one. its was shown exclusively on footages captured by cctvs. what i mean is that since the story is set in a gal's apartment, it started off with the cctv footage of her leaving her apartment and then goes on to another cctv footage of her waiting for the elevator. then it moves on the the next cctv footage of her coming out of the elevator at the carpark and getting into her car. then fade out and continues to another footage later on that night when she gets back, parks her car, get into the carpark elevator .. go into her apartment bla bla bla, u get the picture.. but u must be wondering how u know what she's doing in her apartment since there aren't any cctvs in there right? wrong. the apartment guard seems to be a pervert so he actually installs some cameras in her apartment, so there's where the "in-house" footages came from. so anyway, the story is basically that of a ghost who comes back and avenges his death. *yawn*.

all in all i have to say that it was a relatively good attempt. there's still lotsa room for improvement, but considering this is the 1st time something like this has been attempted (at this scale) in malaysia, i think it was okay la. lets just hope it gets better from here else..

anyway, now comes the time to bitch about how "unglamourous" this gala premier is. u know u always equate movie premiers to be like those red carpet, billions of reporters snapping away feverishly at this kinda events right? hehe.. there was nothing of that sort tonite i tell you. okay, there was quite a no of celebrities and photographers there tonite, but mostly the producers, cast was being interviewed about the movie and stuff, thats all. (ahem, i oso got my pic taken when the producer came over and talked to us k? hehe..) but basically it wasn't as glam as u'd expect it to be. but hey, its malaysia.. what u expect right? (not that it mattered much, but just thought i'd paint the pic for u guys) anyway, nobody here gets all nervous and sweaty palmed when they see a malaysian celeb right? (or do they..?) hmmm...

had a pretty good day today.. i mean it is after all, its ryan's 7th birthday! and me being a kind brother and all, organized a mcdonald's party for him (ermm.. this was done a couple of months back but neglected to mention that in here). so anyway.. looked like the kids had a ball of a time with games and stuff. there was even a short appearance by ham-burglar (remember him?) so it was pretty kewl. thank gawd mcdonald's klang parade (yeah, we had it there cos so its within close proximity for his skoolmates) is like just next to a starbucks else i wouldn't know what i'd do - am not feeling too well yet & was pretty stoned although it was already 12pm. =/

well anyway as i said the party was pretty alright, mainly they had a 2 hr limit on the party cos there was supposed to be another party scheduled right after ours, so i'd say it was pretty tolerable even with all the sweaty kids running all over the place.. haha. i got ryan some pokemon trading cards - it was something he really, really wanted and was begging my parents to get it for him, so i think right now he's kinda indebted to me for life .. haha. the cards costed me like rm45 a box and i got him 2.. pricey huh? but if such is the price of eternal gratitude, why not right? hehe. but knowing ryan he'd probably conveniently forget about it. *sigh* back to square 1.

later on i went to 1u to catch 'the village'. i thought it was a really good story, but somehow i just feel that something's not right. erm, how do i say this .. u know there are some stories which are not meant to be told by someone? it has to be experienced? ie the story has to actively run in ur head and not something u passively look at? in short: it should have been a book (it probably is). i'm sure it would have been a REALLY enjoyable read. well, i know at least one of u out there hasn't watched it yet so its really up to u .. this one kinda sits on the fence. watch it, don't watch it .. nothing lost, nothing gained. =)

cheerio..

*Sniff* i hate being sick. worst of all, i hate being in a state of "limbo" where where not quite sick yet, but not quite healthy either.. damn it. tried staying in yesterday (a fri nite!) to get some quite rest, hoping that i'd feel better today but for some reason it didn't seem to help much, so tonite i decided that there was no way i was going to stay in again. however, neither was i going to worsen my condition by loading myself up with alcohol or even go to places that have more carbon monoxide then oxygen so me & some frens decided to go to starbucks, pyramid. its a lil far from home but hey, at least we're still hip right? haha..

did i have fun u ask? ermm.. if ur idea of fun is feeling borderline claustrophobic in an overly crowded and noisy place, then yes .. i had HEAPS of fun. =) i think i'm getting old. sigh..

have u ever wondered what would it be like if fishes ruled the world? would they just go out to a store and get a bag full of humans, go home and put em in a air-filled container and watch them walk around in their water-filled houses? would they take care of us as we would them? i'd like to think they will .. =)

oh i'm fcuking pissed today.. my car got broken in while i was at work today (que GRRRR sound). however, i have to admit that i am a very very lucky person cos the thief didn't actually succeed in breaking into the car - only my passenger side window was broken, but it din exactly shatter cos it was tinted. so basically my car wasn't really broken INTO, it was just ermmm, broken..? *sigh*

well, i'm sure u're wondering why would anyone wanna break into my car right? well, its actually my fault actually .. i've got a whole bunch of electronic gadgets/go-fast bits for my car nicely displayed on the top of my dash and its practically an open invitation for would-be thiefs. i mean, honestly i knew that it was going to happen one day cos many ppl with only 1 little device (which was even hidden under the radio) already got their cars broken into, what more when yours truly got 5 of it nicely arranged all over my dash (was actually plannin to get a few more.. but obviously thats not goin to happen anytime soon)

okay, i'm sure any feeling of sympathy u had for me it probably all gone now .. but hear me out. i've actually been contemplating getting rid of those "thief magnets" for awhile now already but was kinda holding back cos 1. i'll be making a HUGE loss if i sell em off, 2. i lazy to go thru the hassle of showing it to would be buyers etc 3. taking em off would make my car slower 4. i like those things, which was why i got em in the 1st place right?

so anyway, u can say that this is kinda a "wake up call" cos i was lucky this time around that nothing was actually stolen .. so i'm now actually deciding between selling it off and recoup some losses (instead of getting it stolen one day and i lose everything), or just relocating it to another more hidden place (but thats kinda dumb because these things needs to be within reach of the driver cos it may require change of settings during ermm.. enthusiastic driving opportunities. hehe..

ah well, i've actually posted an ad on a local car portal and in less than 2 mins i've already got replies from a person who said he's willing to take it off my hands TOMORROW! sigh, hold ur horses cowboy .. gimme some time to think bout it okay? =(

so anyway, one thing for sure i know what i'll be doing tomorrow : getting my window replaced and re-tinted. lets just hope they still have shade of tint that matches my car else it'd be damn odd that 1 window's a different colour. sighhhh... and i thought i'd go watch "The Village" tomorrow (looks interesting, will probably try to anyway)..

wow.. i had an extremely unexpectedly eventful night tonight. lemme fill u guys in on it .. well, it started out like this: i had to do some toiletries shopping after work today, so i decided to stop by carrefour to get some stuff. after that on the way back to the car i passed by 1901 (some stand which sells hotdogs which i'm crazy about) n i found that they were brought back for "a limited time" the Deutch Doodle Dang hotdog (which i loooooove), so i decided to get one to have for dinner. jus then i remembered that my sis also loves this particular hotdog, so i called her to see if she wanted me to "ta pau" one for her. she din want one, but she did want to have dinner, so we ended up meeting in bangsar TSB (telawi st. bistro) for some din.

well, i have to say that although i cant remember the name of the pasta i ordered, i was DELISH y'all. it sounded something like passe with chicken balls or something like that (sorry.. really cant remember), but i certainly recommend it. so anyway, after that she mentioned that she had to go downtown to velvet underground (zouk) to cover some fashionshow event or something like that and asked me to go along. needless to say, being the super-discipline person i am, i declined cos i've gotta work tomorrow bla bla bla.. however, for some reason being a good brother i am (which seemed to eclipse my disciplined self), i agreed after some canvassing cos she said she was all alone bla bla bla..

so needless to say 20 mins later i found myself in velvet underground sipping on my 75ml heine (Which incidently cost me 14 bucks! - cut-throat siallllll...) so anyway, we had this really good table (the media alwiz has excellent seats in any event, trust me) which was right in the middle of the room facing the dancefloor. it was pretty weird cos everywhere else was getting a lil crowded but our table, the one right in front had just two ppl - me n my sis. needless to say, we were getting some stares - whether of ppl wondering who we were or wondering what we were doing there i wouldn't know ..

so anyway, the "event" started out really badly, since it was ladies' night, there was this little dance competition thingie where 3 guys (i guaran-damn-tee u 2 of them were faggot-ass idiots) struting their stuff ala flash dance-cum-justin timberlake dances. it was pretty weird. the worst part is after their performance they actually came up to our table and chatted me n my sis up (prob cos we were the 1st table facing the dance floor). weird shit i tell you.. but good thing the only non-faggotish guy (i hope..) actually came n talk to us. nothing special jus some small talk n crap ..

next came the fashion show. what so "fashion"-able about it i'll never know.. models weren't pretty, clothes were nothing to shout about. its a good thing i can't remember the label's name but i'm pretty sure it'll be on my sis' site - i'm too lazy to make link thing so just look it up manually at klue.com.my if u're remotely interested (i'm sure u'll find it eventually.. hehe).

so anyways.. i met lotsa ppl in the apparently creme de la creme of kl tonite. it started out right from TSB in bangsar actually ... since there was a Mini (u know.. the car?) event, so there were awhole bunch of celebs there and since we were sittin by the walkway leading to the toilet, i saw lotsa them but for some reason i only know one of their names: paula malai ali.

oooh, then at velvet underground, i met this gal who actually co-wrote a book with her mat-salleh fiance (okay, she did the illustration or something..). she actually passed my sis a copy of her book tonite and OMG, its like a god-damn kids' book for grown ups. no, i dont mean its porn or anything but its just full of pics and a few words EVERY PAGE. here's an example of what i remembered of it.. on one page it was something like "IF THE WORLD WAS A MALL, THIS IS THE USA" then there was a drawing of a shop selling guns. well, its cute if it was just one picture, but a WHOLE book of crap like that? sighh... art my ass. so anyway, this particular person's party was at a table nearby sipping on moet bla bla bla .. ooo, upmarket shit - don't play play. apparently book authors (no matter how crappy) earns big bucks (or maybe thats jus that the want us to think..?)

so anyway, that was the story of my night. sorry for going on and on, but i just took my bath and am actually waiting for my hair to dry before heading off the bed. =) laterss...

y'all won't believe this but i actually sat thru an entire Sex in the City marathon on HBO yesterday - 8 episodes back-to-back (4 hrs straight thru) and i actually enjoyed it (even tho i've actually watched some of it already). well yes i actually like that show.. lots i hafta admit. guess there's something about watching 4 horny women going about their lives humping everything in sight that i find interesting (yah, and a gazillion other guys too i'm sure.. haha).

anyway, the point i'm trying to get at is that sometime thru all the blowjobs and designer outfits, there was one particular question being asked that struck a cord with me: "how many chances at a GREAT love are we given in a lifetime?". What if the one that got away was THAT great love? does that mean that everyone else that comes after that should be a compromise? how do u know when the love u feel for someone is THE ONE? what if u're folding too early? or folding too late? hmm... kinda makes u think right? =/

hahaa.. well, that just goes to show that i was actually watching the show, and not just staring googgly-eyed at them boobies. =P

the reason for the communication blackout over the past week or so is cos my adsl line just decided to die on me. i'm not sure if its the modem that went kaput or issit the internet connection thats a lil cranky.. anyhow i've gotta get the telekom guy to come over and have a look at it, and we all know that that's not gonna happen anytime soon. so here i am getting on the net with my 56k modem (for some reason i'm only geting 38.6ks) .. sigh, pages take forever to load. damn adsl spoilt me to the max. =(

well, now that i'm done with the bitchin.. lets get on to what i've been up to. to sum the previous week off, it was pretty alright. i actually watched quite a number of movies over the last weekend .. lemme see, last sat i caught godsend .. it was alright, found the storyline to be a particularly unique one. have to say i was pretty captivated thruout the show, but the ending was somewhat crap. would recommend it nonetheless though .. but just try not to scream "WTF?!" when the credits come up.

then on sunday i caught I, robot .. somehow i feel the future portrayed in this show wasn't THAT futuristic save a few space-age looking cars and loadsa robots walking around .. well, all i can say is that this is a story that has been told countless times before - man makes robot, robot destroys man. usually the will smith factor tend to cover the fact that the movie has a weak storyline/plot (think MIB), but this time around his less-than-sterling performance just doesnt do it for me..

then today (saturday again) .. i watched catwoman. halle barry is just going all out in her experimenting of different kinds of roles huh? i mean u'd think after the disappointing gothika (did i spell that right?), she'd be more careful in her screening of roles right? ah well, winning an oscar tends to make ppl think differently, but thats besides the point. what i'm trying to say is that i walked into the cinema with a totally open mind to this one .. no expectations watsoever. and it could be precisely because of that, that i actually think catwoman was a pretty enjoyable watch for me (although kim was complaining that it was a lil too draggy..). well, i have to admit that the storyline of a feline-influenced heroine vs a cosmetic company does sound a lil dodgy, but the effects and acting actually does save the movie somewhat (well, it could also have something to do with the fact that halle's half-exposed boobs jiggles with her every movement .. haha).

well, that pretty much sums up my movie watching escapade over the past week. hope u enjoyed my short, biased but honest reviews. =) laterss y'all!
