and ahhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm back!

Here's me doing my yearly check in on this lovely (albeit alil quiet) blog.

Okay, so let's recap whats been happening over the past year..

Vaping

Yep, still at it and as of today I'm 440 days 19 hours and 23 minutes smoke free! That's 8817 death sticks not smoked and apparently that's RM5620.31 saved. Just don't ask me how much I've already spent on vaping though.

So the next logical step after quitting smoking would be to..

Exercise!

Owyeh. So the plan is to go for a 1.5 to 2 km jog on alternate days. I've been (trying) to do that for about 4 months now (since March 2015) with a goal of running a marathon by the end of the year. Owyeh, that's right - a marathon. Just as long as it's not the full kind. Or the half kind. Something along the lines of 5kms kind will be just right, owyeh. That's me, the marathon runner in the making. Owyeh.

Okayy, moving on..

Managed to catch a few movies over the past week, hits and misses here and there so here goes:

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - HIT! Heartwarming storyline & characters, awesome effects. Watch it even if you aren't a fan of the sci-fi genre.

Hercules - MISS! I have no idea why this show was even made, or why The Rock even bothered. More suited to be a direct to DVD B-grade movie IMHO. Even his (relatively) hot Amazonian sidekick couldn't sway my hormone-fuelled opinion on this.

Defenders of the Galaxy - Now I wasn't too eager to watch this 'cos I actually never heard of them, let alone read the comic so I actually walked in with zero expectations, half expecting a lame storyline and stale humor which we've been bombarded ever so frequently in the latest Marvel comic to movie adaptations. But my oh my, was I surprised.. I actually enjoyed it. HIT!

P/S - Yeah I know 3 reviews in one single short post. I'm getting lazy but hey at least I'm trying to keep this blog alive right?

An Honest Review About The Billet Box

So after getting the Provari Mini v2.5, I was looking to get another box mod just for fun to see what the fuss was all about, when I finally shortlisted two of the most talked about (and hardest to get) mods in market: the Hana Modz V3 Mini or the Billet Box

The Hana Modz Box Mod

While the original Hana Modz was relatively hard to get due to their slow production and shortage of third party chips to produce them, half-priced clone knock-offs were a dime a dozen in vape shops everywhere in Malaysia. While I'm not the type who worries about people thinking I'm using a clone, I was more interested in the Billet Box not because there weren't any clones (at that time), but because everything you needed (batteries, e-liquid tank etc etc) was all built inside the box.

The Billet Box

Notice that there's no tank sticking out from the top of the Billet Box. From what I gathered from user reviews on the net, it works like a charm and tastes awesome as well.

Add that together with a massive 6ml tank for e-liquids, more than enough power from two 750mAh batteries (which are all easily swapped on the go), what's there not to like about it?

That basically meant no more lugging around a few tanks for me everyday. Just one Billet Box and a few batteries are all that's gonna be in my pocket everyday. Awesome!

The insides of the Billet Box

So when I chanced across a unit available on the Billet Box Vapor online shop, needless to say I grabbed it without much hesitation.

So from the moment it arrived about a week ago, my Provari, Kayfuns, Taifun GTs have all been cleaned up, dried and put nicely back into their original packing.

Quickly filled the tanks up, inserted the cartos (oh while waiting for the BBs arrival, I ordered some 3.0ohms prepunched cartomizers) and waited eagerly for the cartos to fill up to start vaping on it (anticipation level: 10000000000).

First impressions using the 3.0ohm cartos were that the amount of vape was good, but waitaminute - where's the flavour? There's none! Hmm okay, fine 'cos I wasn't expecting miracles to begin with as I was told to expect only 50% of the flavour I get from my RBAs. Let's try Atimistique's Billet Bridge (yeah I ordered that too, hehe) with 1.8ohm Aspire BDC  that's supposed to get a little bit more flavour. Fitted it in, fired it up and ermm.. nope, no flavour there - just lotsa vape (disappointment level: 10000000000).

To be fair I knew from the start that the flavor would be bad (compared to RBAs) but I guess this was something I had to experience first-hand. I've since been putting off testing out the Diver v2 (yep, got that too) yet so all is not lost, although I'm not getting my hopes very high.

Okay so to cut to the chase (sorry about the earlier rambling), I really do not enjoy vaping on the Billet Box. It lacks taste and it kinda falls flat on its face trying to deliver my (very much needed) nicotine supply. So why, you ask, am I still using it? My answer is simple: because its a genuinely beautiful work of art. Just looking amazes me that someone could create something so beautiful. Yes, I know I'm shallow like that, although I think it could also have a lot to do with the small fortune I spent just to get my hands on it and all the accessories to make it work, haha.

So, in a nutshell I do think that there are many out there who are in the same predicament as me, but refuses to admit that they made a mistake investing in something so expensive that doesn't vape half as well as many mods out there that cost 1/10th its price.

So if you are seriously considering getting yourself a Billet Box, please do more research on it and see if cartos work for you 'cos if you're a RBA guy like me, I think there's a very high chance that you're gonna be bitterly disappointed and end up putting it up on the classies (like so many have done).

While I don't think reading an honest review like this one is gonna change someone with a Billet Box in their crosshair's mind, I just wished I read something like this before I pulled the trigger on mine.

As for me, I'm just gonna hang on to it for now and see what happens. Just cos its so purdy (even more so after I J-Wrapped it). Now back to vaping flavorless vape *sulk*

Behold, the J-wrapped Piebald with textured Mosaics *melts*

Disclaimer: Now before I start taking any heat from Billet Box diehard fans (read: fanatics), this is just my honest opinion on something I bought and have used for a week. I may be accused of not knowing how to set it up right etc, but hey it's my soapbox and I'll say what I want to (say what I want to, say what I want to .. you may cry too if it happened to yoouuuuu..)

Friday, July 04, 2014

Not sure if I've mentioned this before but I've tried to quit smoking for the longest time. From going cold turkey (for a year), and then cutting down (that didn't quite last) and so far haven't found much success, so I've basically given up trying til lately when I decided to just switch to vaping instead.

So what exactly is vaping you ask? Well that, my dear readers, is what Google is for. Go googlit!

Ok la for the benefit of the lazy buggers (yes, I'm referring to you), its actually an electronic cigarette, where we use electricity to heat up liquids containing nicotine that're made of food grade flavoring. So basically what we have here is a way to deliver our much needed nicotine, minus the 4000-odd unknown chemicals found in our beloved fags, plus whatever flavor that strikes your fancy. Be it coffee, butterscotch, mango, even bubble gum! And all that without smelling like a burnt furnace all day long. Whats even better is you can even choose the strength of your nicotine so you can actually wean yourself off it eventually if thats what you want.

What's there not to like about it, right?

"Since gonna die anyway, same shit either way la, correct or not..?"

Okay, after all that the next question is whether or not its safe? Well, while consuming (read: makaning) food flavoring has generally been considered safe, there's been a big question mark about inhaling it. No one quite knows, but my personal opinion is that since fags are already known to be harmful, how bad can vaping be right? Since gonna die anyway, same shit either way la, correct or not..? Besides, I now smell alot better than I used to and I have a myriad of flavors to choose from to suit my mood - I currently have an option of coffee, mango or nut for me to choose from instead of just boring old Marlboro Lights.

Well I know its been only about 2 months+ since I've been doing this and I may be jumping the gun, but what the heck:

Hey guys! I'm a non-smoker now!

How's that?

Monday, June 23, 2014

woah! its been five years..?!

So, after five years we meet again, ol' blog (wait - do people even call blogs, "blogs" anymore?).

Well so much has changed since we last met, I mean where do I start?

Should I tell you about what the heck I've been doing to survive for the past 5 years? Or that there're now two ladies that I love in my life now? Or how I'm now part of this lame online clan called KMC in this game called Clash of Clans?? (mwahaha..)

Stick around and I might just tell you (or not, lets just see how it goes).

Man, has it really been five years already?
