GAMARJOBAT!

with my new years resolution in place to try as many new things as possible, i thought i'd check out this mime play called Gamarjobat at the actors studio, bsc.

basically its this 2 funny looking japanese guys who manages to entertain you for 1.5 hrs without even utturing a single word! (well, thats probably cos they cant speak much english, hehe).

anyway i thought the 1st 30 mins or so was pretty good, with them doing really stupid things like attempting to do some simple magic tricks and failing miserably (when i say simple tricks, think trying to con ur little 3 yr old cousin into believing that u can really pull ur thumb off kind of trick) - basically they had everyone (me included) in stiches with their funny antics.

somewhere in the middle it got a lil boring when the 2 yahoos started miming out a story of a boxer who hits rock bottom after a big defeat, but chooses to return to boxing after he meets the love of his life and realises that he doesnt have enough money to marry her. however, it does pick up toward the end and soon they had everyone laughing again.

all in all it was an enjoyable experience, although i think its a lil steep at rm80 a pop (good thing i took full advantage of the 1-for-1 promo that starbucks was having so only paid rm40 a pop- woot!).

check out Gamarjobat's official site here

this is what u call serious entrepreneurship in action. who else is wiling to fork out big bucks if not a jealous-suspicious spouse? genius i tell u, freaking ingenius.

Software secretly spies on SMSes

SINGAPORE: The eye-catching advertisement screams in its headline "How to Catch a Cheating Spouse" and promises all the evidence you will need to nail your straying partner.
The ad is for a "discreet and fail-safe" software program that will secretly forward all incoming and outgoing SMS messages from your partner's phone to you.

Offered by one Jopca Solutions, it costs S$200 (RM460) to forward just incoming messages and double that if you want outgoing messages as well.

It takes mere minutes to download the software into the phone to be spied on and it leaves no trail – forwarded messages do not appear in the "Sent" folder.

The difficulty is in sneaking your partner's phone out for the company to install the software. Also, the software is compatible with only certain models of mobile phones.

For the paranoid and suspicious, the program takes snooping to a new level, but to many, it is a clear invasion of privacy.

Concerns about privacy aside, a person who uses such software could be running afoul of the law.

Said lawyer Adrian Tan: "Anyone using or selling the software can be found guilty under the Telecommunications Act for the fraudulent retention of messages."

Another lawyer said software users are also in breach of the Computer Misuse Act for installing software without the owner's permission. If found guilty, users can be fined up to S$10,000 (RM23,000) or jailed up to three years, or both.

Michael Ng, who identified himself as a shareholder and employee of Jopca Solutions, said he has received 80 calls since the ad ran about two weeks ago.

He denied that the company is breaking any laws. "We do not retain any messages. We just forward them to another mobile phone."

Suspicious spouses make up 25% of his customer base. The majority, around 60%, are parents who wish to check on their teenage children. – The Straits Times / Asia News Network

caught the return yesterday at 1u GSC. all i can say is that the show sucked so badly that i dont even want to bother commenting on it.

I'll say one thing though, that 1.5hrs in the cinema had to be the longest i ever experienced in my life. pah.

Caught Ed TV on HBO yesterday, and i just have to say that as if the Truman Show wasn't stupid enough already, they had to make another show with a similar story line.

The only redeeming point about the whole show is undoubtedly Jenna Elfman (of Dharma & Greg fame) - she is just so freaking hot hot hot! It doesnt matter whether she's with her cute smile, or sad with her puffy eyes - she's just so hot. i know, Liz Hurley was there as well, but i dont know why i just couldn't keep my eyes off Jenna.

maybe i'm being abit cruel here. the show wasn't all that bad there were some points that i actually thought was funny, but i guess the whole white thrash to celebrity thing wasn't really all that appealing, but Jenna... mmm.

Jenna, Jenna you so hot!

okayyy.. i'm beginning to scare myself here so i'll just end this right now.

hmm.. i hate to say this, but i think i may be a semi-alcoholic. why semi, u ask? well, cos pure alcos needs to drink all the time to get by right? well, i dont need to be per se but it sure would be nice to have it whenever i can.. hehe

well this happened to me last night while watching tv - the character in the sitcom i was watching mentioned that a glass of wine a day helps keep high blood pressure in check (n thats in addition to all the antioxydents healthy crap thats in it..) so i decided, "hmm lemme hv some wine". so after gulping down a few glasses (i din finish the whole bottle laa, i shared it with the rest of my family k?!).. i went to bed and woke up fresh as ever!

the prob is for some reason i've not been sleeping well over the past few wks cos i seem to be waking up every few hrs in the middle of the night, but last night was superb - deep sleep from start to end. excellence.

the moral of the story? alcohol good. so wat if i'm a semi-alco? i'll worry bout it when i turn into a pure one. i can see it now.. "hi, my name is calvin and i'm an alcoholic *hic*). heh.

happy new year guys!

watched the curse of the golden flower yesterday and i've gotta say this, just seeing all them boobies bouncing around was worth the 10 bucks man! who cares if the story line wasnt that great and jay chou's acting sucked? (although i have to say that gong li + chow yuen fatt was not too bad) just watching them boobies was good enough.

actually come to think of it the directors probably knew that they didn't have a very strong package to work with (ie the actors, storyline etc) and therefore they needed a distraction. and whats a better distraction than over a thousand bouncing boobs?

all in all i didnt think the show was anything to shout about, but there wasnt much hype about it (unlike hollywood shows like casino royale, LOTR, starwars etc), so i basically wasn't expecting much, but i wasnt impressed much either after watching it.
